Friends and packs are here!

Going to conventions is not the same without friends. Now: Add friends and curate groups of people (we call it Packs) to organize your next con!

Your profile more yours

Now you can assign a handle to your Consurf profile. We assigned one automatically for you, but we are sure you want to be more than a wise-chinchila-3326 right?

Hop on to your Settings and claim it now!

Claim your "@" handle by going to Settings in your account

Start adding your friends

Go to your friend's profile and add as a friend. You can also find them if they are attending a con and jump from there.

Friends in Consurf gain visibility about your attendance, plus, you can create posts looking or offering rides and rooms only to your friends instead of broad open to public.
They will need to accept you before a friendship is formed.

Find your pack

Packs are groups of people, friends or not, that will have a holistic view of their needs and wants.
  • Anyone can invite anyone to a pack
  • Members of a pack earn a special permission, allowing only members of the pack to see certain posts on Consurf - now you can share only with friends, or open up to members of a pack only
  • Allow you to curate a trusted circle of people, so finding rooms for your next con is done with vetted people
What you waiting for? Create your pack
You can add your staff, your TTRPG group, your local city friends!

Scope your posts to people you trust

Now creating a post allow you to choose how it gets viewed:
  • Public - Everyone registered on Consurf
  • Friends only - Only people you have as friends
  • Pack members - Only people who belongs to a pack you choose
Filter out who can see your posts, this way you can tailor access

So much more!

We have made so many more additions, changes and improvements, here is a non-exhaustive list:
  • Convention Staff is not visible anymore: The current setup is only for staff who operates their event in Consurf, it does not translate historical staff - so it was removed - staff continues to have the same access to operate it, just not advertised
  • New Explorer: You can search conventions in a much more refined way! Check the new Explorer
  • Your event planner is less convoluted, if you mark conventions to go, you should check it out the new furry convention planner!
  • Hundreds of bug fixes and security patches

If you see a bug 🐞

Report a bug! Consurf codebase is quite large, and despite our best efforts, some bugs are bound to sneak in.

Thank you patrons and volunteers

Thank you to all our patrons - this motivate us and help pay costs of hosting and development.

We categorized 1,353 furry convention themes; these are the results

Somewhere, a volunteer committee sat in a room (or a Discord call) and decided that this year , their con was going to be about space, or pirates, or a haunted Victorian manor, and then spent the next twelve months building an entire event: badges, art, programming, decoration around that one idea. Do that enough times across enough conventions, and you get an vast library of ideas, literally thousands of hours poured into those themes. We decided to go through our database to check out one thing: What kind of theme the... themes fall under? Why you ask? Well, Why not!? Data is fun! And we do have a hpyerfocus in organize all furry events in the planet, so there you have it. You can scroll down for the breakdown of all. But we will also go through our method: Step One: Learning to Read Furry The first thing you notice is that we furries have our own dialect, call it daddy jokes and puns, but this is what make our language fun. "Roaring" becomes "Rawring", "Mar...

How Consurf deals with unwanted accounts?

Image
One of the main mantras of Consurf is its ability to provide better tools and insights when you connect with people for potential roommates or carpools in furry conventions. We went from "Stranger Danger" from the early 2000's to literally closing deals with strangers on the internet. But once we start working towards trust, sleeping on the same room requires an extra layer of vetting. The Normies One of the things Nuki aims with Consurf is to provide a place where we all can vet the people who we interact with. To participate on Consurf, you must have a Bluesky account. If you are banned on Bluesky, you can't login on Consurf anymore. So that weed out the bigger troublemakers. Consurf also can injest a number of Moderation Lists from Bluesky, curated by the community, such as the Commision Artist's Bots - they won't be able to Log In on Consurf, even though they can roam free on Bluesky. On top of that, Consurf can also ban specific accounts brought to atte...

Profile handlers are coming soon!

Image
Hello supporters! Consurf is making big changes! And one of the aspects of the change is to enhance the importance of your Consurf Profile. How it is today When you browse a user profile on Consurf, you see a mumble jumble of letters and numbers. This is your CID (Consurf ID) - it uniquely identifies you across the platform, and even beyond. What's coming In the next month, Consurf will introduce a really neat update to the website! Making it more social, this move will make Consurf profiles much more relevant, and hence, we want to make it more yours . In this update to come, we will be introducing Profile Handlers, the famous "@" unique identifier that is your identity in so many websites. Instead of "cmc8fomlz0000s89mj6quwdbi", I will be simply "nuki". As Consurf evolves, we want this to become more and more an option to be your landing page, where people will be able to follow you somewhere else. What exactly, that's a surprise ! When can I pic...
